Mission Solving the Biodiversity Crisis with Native Plants — Yard by Yard
Helping you grow native plants with free, friendly support and community events
Habitat loss is one of the greatest contributors to the steep decline in insect and bird populations world-wide. Because of the unending development of our natural spaces, it is urgent that we use native plants in our own yards to replace the meadows and fields that are being lost. When we visualize each yard in a neighborhood as being one patch in a quilt, it is easy to see that the more yards that have native plant patches, the more effective this flower quilt will be in protecting pollinators, birds, and indeed, our own food supply
KISS Native Plants in Boulder, Colorado was started because of the urgency of the biodiversity crisis. To make it simple for folks to save pollinators, we organize engaging talks about plants and eco-systems in parks and green spaces adjacent to neighborhoods. In this way, we bring neighbors together to learn how and why to blanket neighborhoods in native plants. We answer your questions and point you to useful resources. Easy!
Together, through strategic gardening, we can create millions of acres of life-saving native plants — person by person, yard by yard, neighborhood by neighborhood, state by state ...
And don’t worry — there’s no need to remove existing, non-invasive plants from your yard. Just add as many beautiful natives as you can. Every plant makes a difference. You make a difference.
